BEFORE
let's talk about what you need to do before your peel – because prep is key for getting those awesome results!
First things first, for about a week or two before your peel, steer clear of any retinoids, AHA, BHA, retinols, or antibiotics. We want your skin to be in tip-top shape for the treatment!
And here's a biggie: if you've got any open wounds or active infections going on, hold off on the peel for now. We want to make sure your skin's in the best possible condition before we get started.
Oh, and make sure to give us the lowdown on any skin conditions you've got, like psoriasis or dermatitis. That way, we can tailor the treatment to suit your needs.
If you've used Accutane in the last 6-8 months, have an aspirin allergy, or a history of drugs that make your skin extra sensitive to light, we might need to hold off on the peel for now. Safety first, right?
And if you've had skin cancer in the past, we'll need to make sure you've been cancer-free for at least 3 years or get the all-clear from your doctor before we proceed.
Oh, and one more thing – if you're pregnant or planning to wax or get another peel within the next week, it's best to hold off on the peel for now.
AFTER
After your peel, we'll create a customized plan just for you, both for in the clinic and at home. We want to make sure your skin gets all the love and care it needs to heal and look its best.
One big thing to keep in mind is sun exposure. We can't stress this enough – your skin will be extra sensitive after the peel. So, for the next little while, try to stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible. If you do have to be out and about, slap on a hat and some shades, and don't forget to layer on that SPF like your skin's life depends on it – because it kinda does!
